MG Harrogate 2007 – Long Weekend Camping & Rally 3rd, 4th and 5th August 2007
This weekend was heralded by the meteorological office as being blessed with sunshine and no rain (except for remote northern parts) and was going to be ideal for this Yorkshire Rally.
North Yorkshire, a place called Pateley Bridge near Harrogate, was where the a ‘long weekend’ at the North Yorkshire MG Owners Club’s annual rally would be - I took my new red MG Roadster (1967 Mk1 Series) with me. We had both good and poor weather over the weekend; driving up was fine and sunny (but I had to keep the top up whilst doing the 278 miles travel, because I needed to fill the inside of the MG with my tent – yes, TENT, as this was a camping rally! I think this must have been my first time in a tent for over 30 years! What was I doing?

THE 1020 SUNDAY RUN CLUB, 19th AUGUST 2007, 2 P.M.
Bournemouth & Poole MGOC’s Derek DeReuck invited us to join them in doing a nother Sunday Run - come along the latest run this weekend, he was sorry for the short notice but with a bank Holiday then three major car shows over the next four weeks this Sunday was the only chance for a sunny roof down run before the weather turns and we all go back to school..!
The troops all met up at Ringwood market Square @ 2PM for 2.30, then off on a magical mystery tour...it might have been a Cream Tea with the WI... alternatively it might have been a hidden secret New Forest pub... and we may just never have been seen again... (but only if Derek was navigating)... so on checking my busy schedule to see if I could join the 1020 crowd but no ..... although this might have been a dead weekend after the big climax show the week before, unfortunately nigel was pre-booked for the Southampton & New Forest Auto Gymkhana.. not much luck there too I'm sorry to say - the shiled which Sarum Moonrakers picked up as last year's winners had to be handed back!
